Past the last wall, a violet seam hangs between the trees. Its edge curls inward, little embers cross the dark, and something low to the ground begins to move.

The enemy rift and the Crawler have new layered artwork and animation. These woodland studies show the art now used by the game, with the rift stages and creature reactions arranged for a closer look. They are controlled previews, rather than a recorded battle.

The animated rift opens in a woodland clearing, holds at full strength, narrows through two broken stages, then closes.

A tear in the woods

The rift has a restless edge around a much quieter centre. Violet tongues bend back towards the opening while small motes rise away from the scorched ground.

As its stages break, the tear becomes narrower and loses some of its outer energy. Opening and closing have their own drawn motion, so the last moments of the rift stay as crisp as its first.

The loop below moves through those stages deliberately, letting each shape settle before the next comparison.

The redrawn Crawler moves towards the rift with a low crawl, then repeats the staged pass with its faster retreat animation.

Small, low, and already moving

The Crawler is the basic wraith: a hunched hood, trailing violet cloth, a cold point of light in its face, and long claws close to the earth.

Its crawl now shifts weight between planted limbs. Faster retreat adds a short moment clear of the ground, while the loose hem follows behind. The two passes below reset their starting position between the crawl and retreat studies.

Five labelled Crawler studies beside the rift: idle, attack, hurt, collapse and burn, with a short hold after each reaction.

From the first twitch to the last ember

The quieter poses matter too. The Crawler breathes beneath its mantle, draws back before striking, recoils when hurt, and folds down when it falls.

A separate burn animation breaks its shape into rising embers. This comparison holds the end of each reaction so the claw, hood and cloth shapes are easy to follow; it does not show a continuous fight.

The same staged crawl and fast retreat after dark, with a glowing violet rift and a small cyan eye against the dim forest.

Beyond the firelight

Daylight catches the folds and hard claw surfaces. After dark, the cloth settles back into the woods while the small cold eye and violet rim keep their own light.

The moving shapes and the surface layers share the same drawings, so turning the creature also turns the way its folds catch the light. The aim is a threat you can read at a glance, even among the trees beyond the settlement.
